Poker and slots have always been associated with America and an invent of Americans however games like roulette & blackjack are French casino games. The oldest edition of blackjacks harks evolved from France and primarily called vingt-et-un which means in French twenty-one.

After a century the game was brought to Canada & United States by the French migrants and made an apparent position in the casinos by the beginning of twentieth century.

In Las Vegas too it backed appreciation and became one of most enduring games.

The growth of Blackjack

Blackjack has constantly gained the attention of statisticians and in the year 1950, the game emerged with better odds than ever. During that time, the team of statisticians came in with the article, The 4 horsemen with title “The Optimum Strategy in a Blackjack”. The theory was derived from the probability & arithmetic’s to determine which player in blackjack will succeed. Even though there was not much of an impact on the scene of a blackjack game, the strategies of the “The Blackjack’s Basic Strategy” provided the base to game.

Edward Thorp is the personnel whose idea and strategy was recognized the most. In the year 1962, he came in with the book “Beat the Dealer”. It revolved around the car counting strategy in the game blackjack. The ideas and thoughts of the book not just earned fame but casinos even molded their rules to change the odds. Even various deck games & shuffling machines were introduced that made the card counting complex.

Computers and its contributions however electrified the blackjack and its strategies. Following which an employee of IBM Julian Braun came in with the book how to Play a Winning Blackjack which was extension to theories of Four Horsemen & Thorp. Blackjack rules and strategies evolved with computers and game became even more refined with different strategy and simulations.

Online Blackjack Revives

Till the year 1990, the game blackjack was restricted with the usage of strategy chart, the players were needed to memorize the chart however the revive happened later when the online blackjack game came in with the charts associated and thus it was easy for the players to refer to the chart while playing the game blackjack online. It was also an efficient move to gain the popularity in the world of casino gaming.
